Hailing from Fairhaven, MA, Rachel Levasseur began her training with the School of the New Bedford Ballet under the direction of Shirley Kayne. During her summers, she trained at the Washington School of Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet School, training with teachers such as Victoria Leigh, Winthrop Corey and Francesca Corkle. She continued her training at Mercyhurst College under the direction of Tauna Hunter where she had the opportunity to perform with the Lake Erie Ballet. Upon graduation, Rachel performed as a member of Nashville Ballet 2.
As a dancer, Rachel has enjoyed performing in various ballets over the years including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Coppelia, La Bayadère, Raymonda, Paquita, Romeo and Juliet, and was featured in Antony Tudor's Little Improvisations.
Always having an interest in the human body, and maintaining optimal performance as a dancer, Rachel began training for her Pilates
certification after her last season with Nashville Ballet. Rachel is currently Mat certified from Balanced Body University and is also on staff at Boston Body Pilates. As an instructor, she teaches her students to work with their own individual bodies, and makes every exercise personal to each student’s needs. Rachel continues to attend various Pilates workshops and classes on a regular basis.
Rachel holds a B.A. in Dance from Mercyhurst College.
