Jared Redick was appointed Principal of Boston Ballet School’s Norwell division in March 2008, and he continues his role as soloist with Boston Ballet.
Mr. Redick’s lineage has deep dance roots. His grandmother was a prima ballerina with the Hungarian National Ballet and his mother, Julia Cziller Redick directs The Conservatory Ballet School in Reston, Virginia, where Redick began his early training. He also studied at North Carolina School of the Arts, Mikhail Baryshnikov's School of Classical Ballet and the School of American Ballet, with notable teachers that included Duncan Noble, Stanley Williams, Jurgen Schneider, Andei Kramarevsky, Alexander Filipov, Melissa Hayden and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Mr Redick has performed with San Francisco Ballet and Fort Worth Dallas Ballet, and joined Miami City Ballet as a soloist in 1996, where his repertoire included leading roles in George Balanchine's Divertimento No 15, Agon, Swan Lake, Theme and Variations, The Nutcracker, Emeralds, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and Western Symphony, along with works by Jimmy Gamonet, Paul Taylor and Sir Frederick Ashton.Mr Redick joined Boston Ballet in 2002 and was promoted to soloist in 2003.
He has been featured in, John Cranko's Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio), Onegin (Lensky) and The Taming of the Shrew (Hortensio), Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Puck), Marius Petipa's The Sleeping Beauty, Mikko Nissinen's The Nutcracker, and Sir Frederick Ashton's La Fille Mal Gardée (Alain).
He has also been featured in Rudi van Dantzig's Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio), Val Caniparoli's Lady of the Camellias (Gaston) and Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, James Kudelka's Cinderella, William Forsythe's In The Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Jorma Elo's Plan to B and Sharp Side of Dark, Jiri Kylian's Sarabande, Helen Pickett's Eventide and Etesian, Mark Morris' Up and Down and Balanchine's Monumentum/Movements, Duo Concertant, Rubies and Divertimento No. 15.
As a soloist with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Mr. Redick performs leading roles in Mozartiana, Bugaku, La Source, Ballade, Tchaikovsky pas de deux, Stars and Stripes, and La Valse. He performed in the revival of Balanchine's Don Quixote at the Kennedy Center Opera House and later at Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival.
Mr Redick has been a faculty member with Boston Ballet School’s Summer Dance Program since 2005 and also teaches for Suzanne Farrell’s Cedar Island summer course.
Mr Redick is an accomplished photographer whose work has been featured in Dance Magazine, Pointe Magazine, The Boston Globe and Playbill.Mr. Redick is married to Boston Ballet’s Assistant Ballet Master and Artistic Coordinator Shannon Parsley. They reside in Braintree, MA with their two Golden Retreivers.
