Christopher of Annapolis, Maryland is a recent graduate of Indiana University where he earned a B.S in Ballet, an outside field in Political Science, and a minor in Spanish Language. Before attending IU, he studied with the Maryland Youth Ballet under Michelle Lees and Christopher Doyle. Other previous training includes summer programs with Peter Stark’s Next Generation Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and The Washington Ballet. While at IU, Scruggs trained under Michael Vernon, Violette Verdy, Guo Ping Wang, and Jacques and Virginia Cesbron.
Scruggs has been seen in the principal roles of Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, Michael Vernon’s The Nutcracker, Tudor’s Lilac Garden, Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, Allegro Brillante, and Glinka pas de Trois. Other featured roles include Dwight Rhoden’s Dear Frederic, Nijinska’s Les Noces, Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo, and George Balanchine’s Rubies and Who Cares?.
