Joined Boston Ballet in 2014
Helio Lima was born in Brazil and started dancing at the age of ten. He studied with Patricia Salgado at Petite Danse School of Dance in Rio de Janeiro for seven years, and in 2010 was awarded a Jerome Robbins Foundation Scholarship to study at the New Zealand School of Dance.
Upon graduating in 2011, he was awarded the Todd Scholarship and a full time contract with the Royal New Zealand Ballet where danced for three years.
Lima was among the top ten finalists at the 2009 Youth America Grand Prix in New York and in 2010 won the Sir John Logan Campbell Ballet Award in Auckland, NZ.
Helio's repertoire highlights to date include the Bluebird pas de deux in Marcia Haydée's production of The Sleeping Beauty (West Australian Ballet, 2010), Albrecht in Ethan Stiefel and Johan Kobborg's production of Giselle (2012), Jester in Russell Kerr's production of Swan Lake and the grand pas de deux from Don Quixote (2013).
