Job Title: Retail and Marketing Intern
Department: Marketing and Communications
Reports To: Retail and Merchandising Manager
Now is your chance to learn what it’s like to run a small business in one of Boston’s most creative environments. Boston Ballet is looking for a motivated individual to intern in the Merchandising and Retail Department. This person will learn a lot about retail sales, marketing promotions, and e-commerce.
10-20 hours/week. Flexible Hours, free tickets to performances, access to BBS classes, and an opportunity for paid work as a Shop Manager at The Boston Opera House.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Retail Merchandising Manager with the following:
Buying and Merchandising
- Developing ideas and researching products for special events and gifts.
Marketing communications
- Execution of print and e communication plans
Retail Operations
- Managing physical inventory and merchandising at the Shops
- Managing web Shop product assortment and updating electronic and physical inventories.
- Load-in and load-out at the theater
- Organizing and tracking the transfer of merchandise between locations as needed.
- Implementing visual merchandising plans
- Managing special staff apparel initiatives and sales
Customer service
- Managing a regular volume of customer service inquiries, web Shop inquiries, and phone orders
- Contacting customers with any issues, and using Tessitura and Elastic Path to assist with contacting customers and reconciling order issues
Order fulfillment
- Web order fulfillment
- Wholesale and consignment order fulfillment
- Tracking, fulfilling, and reconciling a steady volume of interdepartmental merchandise transfers
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and creative
- Retail experience
