Boston Ballet's - 19 Clarendon Street Studios
On Saturday, April 26, 2014, Boston Ballet invites you to a series of fun and FREE ArtWeek workshops in partnership with Fresh Food Generation.
Rethink ballet with workshops for ages 8-18 at the company headquarters, 19 Clarendon Street, in Boston's South End neighborhood.
11 am-1 pm Tutus to Pointe Shoes
Learn about the costuming of ballet - from tutus to pointe shoes - from the professionals in our Wardrobe department. Students will get a "behind the scenes" look at the Boston Ballet costume shop, including a chance to design a dance-inspired costume.
11 am-1 pm Business of Ballet
Learn the inner workings of a leading arts organization, from the budget to marketing, with Boston Ballet professionals. Students will be asked to create their own event plan based on one of Boston Ballet's signature events. Includes a tour of Boston Ballet's facilities.
1 pm-2 pm Fresh Food Generation
Enjoy some food samples courtesy of Fresh Food Generation and learn more about their incredible work in providing healthy, affordable, cooked foods in the Greater Boston area.
2-3:30 pm Music of Dance
Ages: 13-17 (some music experience requir
Learn about the connections between music and dance in an interactive hour and a half workshop. Led by Boston Ballet's Music Director and Principal Conductor Jonathan McPhee. Includes a tour of Boston Ballet's facilities.
2-3:30 pm Dunks, Drills, and Jetés
Learn about the differences and similarities between movement and sports, from warm-ups and drills to dunks and jetés. Led by a Boston Ballet faculty member and a professional athlete. Come ready to move!
