        BBII Community Performances

Boston Ballet II, the second company of Boston Ballet is an elite troupe of highly talented, pre-professional dancers, ages 16-21. An invaluable component of Boston Ballet’s outreach and educational efforts, BBII presents in-theatre and in-school programs as well as lecture/demonstrations tailored to a wide range of audiences. Their smaller size and versatility is conducive to presenting high caliber dance in a variety of theatre and non-theatre venues in the Greater Boston community and throughout New England.

Under the auspices of Young Audiences of Massachusetts, BBII annually presents performances of “Classical Moves” throughout public and private K-12 schools in Massachusetts. This one-hour, interactive program introduces young audiences to ballet as a distinctive art form while highlighting the integral relationship between ballet and classical music. It provides a rare opportunity for students to get up close and personal with the dancers while breaking down barriers to the art form by inviting children to learn the exercises dancers use to build strength, stamina and flexibility and experience the creative artistic process as they “build a ballet” with choreography, music, costumes and scenery.

To book BBII’s interactive school program “Classical Moves,” please contact Jackie Arko, Program Coordinator at Young Audiences at 617.629.9262, ext. 26 or via email at scheduling@yamass.org.

All other inquiries or to book a non-school based performance of BBII, please contact Kirsten Hwang, Boston Ballet’s Company Manager at 617.456.6203 or via email at khwang@bostonballet.org
