Coppélia

Fantasy…come to life

George Balanchine’s cleverly-crafted comedy Coppélia features a mad inventor, his oh-so-lifelike mechanical doll, the young man who fancies her…and his resourceful fiancé who saves the day. When foolish fantasies come to life, the stage is set for amorous perplexities and plenty of laugh-out-loud humor.

This lighthearted romantic romp of mistaken identity stands among the best-loved classical ballets. With its colorful costumes and magnificent sets, it’s easy to see why critics deem Coppélia the happiest ballet in existence. Balanchine’s “melodic and rambunctious” choreography (Boston.com), paired with Delibes’ brilliant score, will sweep you off your feet.

A true coming-of-age story featuring ballet’s favorite heroine, Coppélia is a delight for all ages. Let your imagination run wild with this charming tale, where toys come to life and the path to happily ever after takes a few detours.

With Sincere Appreciation

The 2018-2019 performances of Coppélia have been made possible by a generous gift from Drs. Randy I. Boudrieau and Leslie L. Williams.
