ADULT BEGINNER PROGRAM ENROLLMENT & CURRICULUM INFORMATION

The Adult Beginner Program varies based on location as outlined below and maintains a low student-faculty ratio to allow for individualized attention:

Boston
The Adult Beginner Ballet program at the Boston studio is designed in semesters around two levels, Adult Beginner 1(AB1) and Adult Beginner 2 (AB2).

  • Adult Beginner 1
AB1’s curriculum is geared towards adults with no prior knowledge or memory of ballet vocabulary. For adults wishing to begin ballet or resume their study of it following many years away from the studio, this class prose is ideal in terms of pace, class size and instruction. After one semester of AB1, students move into AB2
  • Adult Beginner 2
Adults in AB2 are expected to have an understanding of ballet fundamentals such as plié, entendu, etc. The general population of this course is adults who have completed one semester of AB1 and should attend one more semester in AB to strengthen their skills and technique before graduating into Open Classes. It also consists of adults returning to the studio for the first time in a few years and wish to take a “refresher” course before moving into Open Classes.

MetroWest
The Adult Beginner program in the MetroWest studio is designed to be a full year program running from September through June. Students are welcome to register either for one semester at a time, or for the full year program. Registration in this program is on-going so students are welcome to join at any point during the course of the year.

  • The Adult Beginner curriculum focuses on introducing ballet fundamentals to new and returning students. Over the course of the year, the material covered will continue to grow and build upon itself while providing individualized attention to each student.
