        Alla Nikitina

        Boston - SDP-Boston
        Newton - SDP-Newton
        Boston - Pre-Professional Program
        Boston/Newton - Classical Ballet Program

Alla Nikitina was born in Ukraine and began her early training at the Donetsk School of Ballet. She was invited to attend the famous St. Petersburg State Academy of the Arts in Russia. There, she studied the Vaganova method of classical ballets and was extensively trained in all methods of character dance. Following her graduation from the Academy with honors in 1979, Alla embarked upon a successful career with a number of Russian dance companies. She was soon performing as a soloist at the prestigious State Academic Ensemble of Dance, Russia.

Alla then founded the Rovesnik Dance Company is Kiev Ukraine several years later in 1985. Her company’s numerous appearances in Europe were a big success where she received high awards for excellence and mastership at national and international dance competitions and festivals. This includes the First Prize at the First National Choreographer’s competition in Ukraine in 1985.

Alla was also honored with the much sought after N. Livitsky National Award for her work as a choreographer. This diverse yet classical background permits Alla to choreograph with great diversity. She gives her students the great benefit of all her years of experience and exposure to such a wide variety of techniques.

In 1997, Alla moved to the United States and began to work as a full time member of the faculty at the Hartford Ballet, Harrt School and BFA Dance Division of the University of Hartford. She also is a welcome guest teacher at a number of professional dance schools in the United States, including the Boston Ballet, the School of Rochester Ballet, Bras City Ballet and others.

Alla has choreographed more than 30 original works including the full-length ballet “The Snow Queen” by Alexander Glazunov (2005), “Peter and the Wolf” by Sergei Prokofiev (2006), and “The Snow Maiden” by Peter Tchaikovsky (2007).

In addition to these notable accomplishments, Alla takes time to reach out to the local community of Hartford utilizing her skills to work with young people through her own school called Premier Dance Academy.
