BETTINA VAN WIJK INDACO Classical Ballet & Pointe, Lyrical
Bettina was raised in Holland and trained at The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. She studied with teachers as Linda Goss, Wim Vreeken, Sulamith Messerer, Sonia Matcholli. She was featured in a Ballet documentary about the prestige Conservatoire named Stap voor Stap. After graduating, and receiving her degree with high honors dancing the lead in Les Sylphides she joined the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam and performed in many European countries as well as in Asia. She has performed in traditional Ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle, Cinderella, A midsummer’s night’s dream and the Nutcracker which her leading roles included The snow Queen and Dewdrop. She performed in contemporary Ballets by Balanchine, (concerto Barroco, Serenade, Diamonds, Symphony in C and The four Temperaments. She also performed in many Ballets of Rudi van Danzig, Hans van Maanen and Jiri Kylian.
Upon her marriage and arrival in the U.S. in 1990, she joined Ballet Theatre of Boston as a soloist and has danced in Boston and throughout Massachusetts, in many Ballets by Jose Mateo.
In 1996 she joined the Ballet Theatre of Boston school faculty and has taught at their school, in their summer programs as well as adult classes. She has also been teaching in Andover (where she currently lives with husband and two children) at The Andover School of Ballet for the past 14 years, where she teaches Ballet, Pointe and Lyrical classes to the highest levels in the school, she also choreographed several Ballets for the end of the year recitals.
Besides her teaching Miss Indaco holds masters degrees in English and Spanish, and speaks Dutch and French.
She was invited by Ms Margaret Tracey to join the Boston Ballet Faculty in 2008 and has been teaching in the intensive program, as well as adult classes. She is delighted to work with a wonderful faculty and school and all the dedicated students.
