Boston Ballet School Musicians Performed Spring Concert
Boston Ballet School Musicians is a group that was formed in February 2007, under the direction of Boston Ballet School Pianist, Alex Foaksman. It is recognized that music is an important factor in everyday lives. While all of our students share the love of dance, several of them have a second passion in life found in classical music. Many of them play instruments of various kinds and are training intensively outside of Boston Ballet. Center for Dance Education is proud to enable this group to share that enthusiasm with fellow students, families and friends. Boston Ballet School Musicians performed their first concert in Spring 2007.
ALEX FOAKSMAN began his career working at the Kharkov Conservatory in Ukraine before moving to the United States with his family in 1994. A year later, he joined Boston Ballet as a full-time pianist and played for several Company and School productions including “Four Hands,” “La Bayadera” and “Les Sylphides.” Mr. Foaksman has also performed for the Opening Ceremonies of the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi.
In 2002, Mr. Foaksman recorded his own CD with Madam Legat entitled “Music for Ballet Masters.” In 2006, he and his wife Tatyana played “Allegro Brillante” for Boston Ballet's Summer Dance Program.
Born in Ukraine, Mr. Foaksman received his M.S. at the Kharkov Conservatory as a piano teacher, soloist, chamber player and accompanist. He continues to play for Boston Ballet, and also instructs piano to several students who have gone on to play in concerts and competitions.
