DANCING FOR FUN AND FUNDRAISING
On April 28, the Boston Ballet School Student Council hosted a Spring Semi-formal dance to raise funds for scholarships. Chaperones included parents, Betty and Steven Ross, Karen and Dennis Bowler, Gail McEvoy, and Chris and Rich Puffer and faculty member, Christopher Anderson and managing director, Elizabeth Benjes. Student Council volunteers ran a bake sale in conjunction with the dance attended by approximately 50 high school age Boston Ballet School students. The dance was a huge success and made over $500 after all expenses were paid.
The Boston Ballet Student Council was established in September 2006 with the goals of facilitating communication between students and faculty, fundraising for scholarship students, and maintaining connections with the Boston Ballet School's alumni. First year organizers include Meghan Bowler, chairperson, Ryanne McEvoy, treasurer, Alexandra Berg, alumni coordinator, and studio representatives Samantha Cohen and Rose Schutzberg (Boston), Victoria Robson and Rachael Armitage (MetroWest), and Brianna Burg and Samantha Caputo (South Shore). Meghan Bowler said, “The Student Council is looking forward to hosting more events! Please contact your studio representative if you would like to join.”
