  Audition Instructions
  • Boston Ballet does not pre-register for auditions. All participants register at the start time listed for each audition site.
  • A $30 audition fee is required at U.S. Auditions.
  • Audition fees for International cities will be listed with the audition site information.  International Audition fees must be paid in cash only.
  • The audition format will be a traditional ballet class with barre, center and pointe work.
  • NO PHOTOS or RESUMES needed for the audition.
  
  
  Eligibility
  • Students should attend the audition scheduled for their current age (not the age they will be during program).
  • Program eligibility is based on audition performance and age as of the first day of the program.
  • We accept International students from Europe and Asia between the ages of 14 - 19.
  • We accept students from the U.S. and Canada between the ages of 10 - 19.
  
  
  Clothing Requirements
  • Women should wear pink-footed tights, black leotards and bring pointe shoes to the audition.
  • Men should wear black tights and a white T-shirt to the audition.
  
  
  Studio Directions
  For directions to a specific studio, please contact that studio directly. The full Audition Tour Schedule will offer phone numbers for each of the studios where Boston Ballet will be holding auditions.  Please plan ahead for your audition. Some studios will not have someone to answer the phone outside of regular Monday - Friday business hours. Feel free to call the Boston Ballet SDP office during regular business hours (Eastern Time) at 617.456.6298 for clarifications regarding studio locations and times.

• Video Audition Instructions 
  
  Boston Ballet strongly encourages all students to audition in person. However, we do accept video auditions if there are circumstances which prevent you from attending one of our audition locations. There is a $50 video audition fee. We accept check (payable to Boston Ballet) or money order.
  
  The video must be recorded between October 1, 2011 and February 17, 2012 to be eligible for submission to Boston Ballet. Please mark the video with the creation date of the tape. We must receive this video by Friday, February 17, 2012, but the sooner we receive it, the sooner the results will be processed. The video must be in American Standard Format (for VHS tapes) or in a DVD format viewable on American DVD players. Other formats cannot be viewed and therefore cannot be evaluated.
  
  This videotape must be accompanied by a video audition card -  click here to download . Print, complete and send with video.
  We will notify you of our decision by mid-March. If accepted, you will receive the necessary registration forms. If you would like us to return the tape/DVD, enclose a self-addressed postage-paid video mailer. If you do not include a self-addressed postage-paid video mailer, the video/DVD will not be returned and will become the property of the Boston Ballet.
  
  
  The videotape for an individual or class should include the following:
  - Complete barre (one side only)
  - Center floor work
         - adagio
         - pirouette combination
         - petit allegro
         - grand allegro
  - Pointe work
         - echappés
         - relevés in arabesque
         - pirouettes en pointe
         - diagonal turning combination
  
  The video should not exceed 15 minutes in length.
  
  * Please wear only leotards, tights and appropriate shoes in the video.
  Variations from this format will affect the evaluation of your audition, which may in turn affect your audition results.
  
  
  Class Video Auditions
  All students must wear a number during the class audition. An audition card must be sent for each student with their number listed on each card. Each class audition video should only have a maximum of 10 students. Please follow the format listed above for what should be included in the video.
