Summer Dance Program - Newton
Curriculum

The curriculum for SDP - Newton, based on 4-6 hours of dancing per day, includes:

  • A minimum of 3 hours daily of classical ballet technique, pointe, and variations classes
  • 1 hour weekly of mentoring class
  • 4-6 hours weekly of Pilates, modern and guest master classes
  • On-site physical therapy
  • Evening lecture/demonstrations with topics including nutrition, injury prevention, make-up, costumes, dance history, and performance presentation

Performance
The program concludes with in-studio demonstrations for friends and family.

Progression for aspiring pre-professionals
Students work closely with exceptional faculty who are committed to working intensively with students to build their professional caliber dance skills. Each student is mentored by a primary teacher throughout the five weeks, who works meticulously on the student’s individual dance needs while closely coaching each student in technique and performance skills. The Boston Ballet School holds an audition during Summer Dance program for students interested in entering the School in the upcoming year.
