Audition Instructions

• $25 non-refundable audition fee required
• Boston Ballet does not pre-register for auditions. All participants must register at the starting time listed for each audition site.
• Audition times will be assigned upon registration, and the participant will be expected to dance at the assigned time.
• Please note the date and time appropriate for your current age group (not your age this summer).
• The audition will include a traditional ballet class format with barre, center and pointe work.
• NO PHOTOS or RESUMES needed for the audition
• Upon arriving at the audition, each student will be required to complete an audition card with contact information and basic questions about dance experience. Click here for a sample audition card. Please note that the sample is for reference only, and may not be substituted for an actual audition card.

Eligibility

• Students should attend the audition scheduled for their current age (not their age this summer).
• Program eligibility is based on audition performance and age as of the first day of the program.
• Students in Summer Dance Program - Newton must be 10 years old by June 28, 2009.
• Summer Dance Program - Boston students must be 15 by June 27, 2009.

Clothing Requirements

• Women please wear pink-footed tights, black leotards and bring pointe shoes to the audition.
• Men please wear black tights and a white T-shirt to the audition.

Studio Directions

For directions to a specific studio, please contact that studio directly. The Audition Tour Schedule offers phone numbers for each of the studios where the Boston Ballet will be holding auditions.  Please plan ahead for your audition. Some studios will not have someone to answer the phone outside of regular Monday - Friday business hours. Feel free to call the Boston Ballet Summer Programs office during regular business hours (EST) 617-456-6269 for clarifications regarding studio locations and times.  

After the Audition

The Application Process 
All applicants are informed of their status by mid-March. Invited students confirm their acceptance and their space in the program by completing and returning their application forms with a check, credit card payment or money order in the amount of $500.00 ($50 registration fee and $450.00 non-refundable deposit).

Wait List
A wait list will be available, and each year 20-30 students are accepted into the program from the wait list. A student receiving a wait list letter will be notified if an opening in the program becomes available.  Notification of acceptance off the wait list may be made anytime throughout the spring up until the start of the program. The wait list is not ranked; in the event that a spot opens, the Summer Program Principals will review the wait list and the audition results.  Please do not call to find out where you are on the wait list.  Emails expressing interest in continuing to be considered for a place in the program are accepted.
