4 BALLETS—3 WORLD PREMIERES
EXCLUSIVE OPENING NIGHT INTRODUCTION:
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR MIKKO NISSINEN DELIVERS REMARKS FOLLOWED BY TÉSSERA – A RARE OPPORTUNITY WITH ALL FOUR CHOREOGRAPHERS ON STAGE
March 6, 2008
Boston Ballet’s Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen will deliver opening remarks tonight. Nissinen mentored the four choreographers whose work is showcased this evening – three World Premieres by Jorma Elo, Heather Myers, and Helen Pickett and one U.S. Premiere by Sabrina Matthews. Opening the Next Generation program is Téssera, an exclusive prelude conceived by Nissinen in which all four choreographers perform on stage together. Designed by Jorma Elo and set to a looped clip of music by Jean Sibelius, this World Premiere is a unique opportunity to see each choreographer perform excerpts indicative of their style.
