About the Choreographer:
Helen Pickett
An exclusive interview with Helen Pickett on her upcoming World Premiere.
World Premiere
In 2005, Boston Ballet commissioned a new work from Pickett called Etesian. It was her first choreographic commission. She has since created works for Washington Ballet, Aspen/Santa fe Ballet, Louisville Ballet and Sacramento Ballet. Pickett started creating her newest work in November and will continue to work with the company after the new year. Her work is being choreographed to the following music: Michael Nyman's compiling The Colours: Samhitha, Jan Garbarek's Anouar Brahem, Philip Glass - Meetings Along the Edge. Costumes are being designed by Charles Heightchew, Boston Ballet’s Manager of Costumes and Wardrobe. Lighting design for the piece is by Mark Stanley. Pickett’s piece is an abstract, neoclassical piece greatly inspired by Eastern Indian music.
