I have decided to stop biting my nails for at least the next six weeks. It is a first step in the hopes of self improvement and life discovery on this my first ever touring ballet experience. For the next six fabulous weeks, Boston Ballet will bond as a team and share its talent and passion with the country of Spain... Read more.

Yesterday was beach exploration day. We all took a cab to the public beach and made quite a glob of Americans sitting in our little nest of white hotel towels. The Spanish seem to be a very peaceful fun-loving people... Read more.

Today is our last full day in Tenerife. It is hard to believe we are done with one city already. The bus is pretty quiet considering the withdrawal from the opening night excitement. I think La Sylphide was a hit... Read more.

Today we kick the dust of Africa from our bus tires and travel to Las Palmas. It seems that on tour, just when you get used to a particular location and life rhythm, you move on. Read more.

LAS PALMAS! We arrived here on July 22nd, on a large ferry ship from Tenerife. I can’t think of the trip without snickering. Joel called it “Hell’s Ferry”. It all started harmlessly enough... Read more.

The sun is finally shining a big good morning this morning.
It threatened to rain all day yesterday. It was gray and chilly, and I dare say our homesickness for a bit of Boston was quenched briefly. I am sitting in the hotel lobby, in what feels like the smallest community in the world. Read more.

Ahhhh Madrid... Starbucks, McDonalds, KFC, and even Burger King. All beacons of light guiding weary travelers home, even if only for a moment. With this hotel we have departed from the five star resort setting and plopped ourselves down in the middle of a bustling city full of life and youth, art and history. Read more.

“It’s hot, hot, hot…whoa-ah-o-o”
Madrid feels as though someone left the heater on for too long in the winter and now all moisture is gone from the air. Read more.

How many people really get the opportunity to wear all wool, a shawl and hat at 35.5˚ Celsius in Spain? Not too darn many. This really is a crazy profession. Read more.

There is a long standing Wroth family tradition that it storms every time we drive to the beach in the summer. Spain was kind enough to keep me feeling right at home on the trip from Madrid to Santander. Read more.

The hotel in Santander offers us a variety of new and interesting challenges. First, it is put to us to find all the beauty an industrial park can hold. This is a tougher task because the only bar, the one in the hotel, closes at 11pm. Read more.

August 10, 2007
Santander is the most picturesque city we have been to thus far. The green, lush mountains in the distance are decorated with red Spanish roofs sprinkled just right. The theatre opens out onto the harbor and I spent many a lunch break (5:00pm) watching sailboats drift slowly by. Read more.

The grand Boston Ballet cross-country bus tour was not nearly the dramatic event everyone thought it would be. We ended up arriving at our hotel in Girona (1/2 hour outside performance city of Perelada) at 8:00pm rather than the projected time of 10:30pm. Read more.

A bus driving across the Spanish countryside is dimly lit and echoes with the cackles of hungry ballerinas. This is such a special company of personalities and passions. Any lost soul finds, in Boston Ballet company, a personality they need at any given moment in their life.

Food of Spain... a Poem
Here in Spain, they have a special treat.
It’s not real fancy and definitely not sweet.

I am sitting here wiggling my toes in the sand in Palmanova, a small beach in Mallorca. The water is green and when you dive beneath the surface, you can open your eyes easily to look at the rocks settled on the sand. Read more.

Last day! Last show! Last day! Can you believe it?!? 6 weeks gone… 7 cities… new discoveries, passionate dancing and LOTS of free breakfasts. Tonight we have our last La Sylphide in Spain (of this tour) I have saved all my gift shopping of this tour for this city so I have a lot of things to accomplish and new purchased to make between now and the plane taking off on Friday. Read more.
