Workshops & Trainings

Boston Ballet's Community Workshops offer participants an exciting “behind the scenes” experience, exploring the many sides of ballet.

Our programs encourage participants to “rethink ballet” as they explore the varied facets of our organization—from movement to marketing—at our headquarters at 19 Clarendon Street in Boston, Massachusetts. These opportunities are perfect for school groups, youth organizations, and more.

Workshops 

Tour/Talk/Move

Tour Boston Ballet's facilities then participate in a eginner ballet, modern, or creative movement class taught by Boston Ballet faculty. Suitable for beginners, ages 8 and up.

Go Behind the Scenes

Explore Boston Ballet's 19 Clarendon Street facilities, including the Costume Shop. Tours are 45 minutes long and appropriate for ages 8 and up.

Everyone Can Dance!

An inclusive movement workshop for individuals with disabilities ages 8 and up. Taught by a highly qualified Adaptive Dance teacher with the supervision of a physical therapist.

Business of Ballet

Learn the inner workings of a leading arts organization, from budgeting to marketing, led by Boston Ballet executives. Participants will be able to create their own event plan based on one of Boston Ballet's signature events and discover potential career opportunities in the arts. This program is recommended for high school and college students majoring in performing arts, arts administration, or business.

Ballet Storytime

In this interactive workshop, children and families will hear a story about ballet then have the opportunity to participate in a movement experience that highlights the major themes of the story. Appropriate for children ages 2 and up (when accompanied by an adult).

Master Class

Participate in an hour and a half classical ballet class, featuring live piano accompaniment, taught by Boston Ballet School’s expert faculty. The Master Class requires a minimum of 15 students and a maximum of 30 students. Participants must be between ages 10-18 and have prior ballet experience

Cost

Workshop costs vary and can be combined with a Group Sale to a performance at the Boston Opera House. 
 
Select workshops may be offered at your site for an additional fee.

Availability

Workshops are available from 10 am–6 pm Sun–Fri. All workshops are subject to availability of staff and studio/meeting space. Workshops must be booked at least 30 days in advance.
