Residential Experience

SDP-Newton students reside at Lasell College, a small private college in Newton, MA, a short drive from the Newton Studio. The beautiful New England campus setting is just a few miles outside Boston and provides a focused environment for students to concentrate on their dance studies while also providing access to Boston. The residential experience provides opportunities personal growth and forming lasting friendships with other students. Our residential staff creates a welcoming home away from home for each resident. Evening activities are hosted for students most evenings and chaperoned off-campus outings are organized weekly.

Residential Staff
The student to residential staff ratio is approximately 15:1. Our residential program is designed to offer the best balance of structure and fun appropriate for an adolescent population. The program is managed by residential leadership with years of experience creating and managing living-learning residential experiences. Residential Counselors are available to talk with students and offer friendly support while students adjusting to life away from home. The RCs serve as mentors and resources for students and are an integral part of the student experience. The Residential Life office is staffed 19 hours a day, and rotating staff members are on-call 24 hours a day. Students carry a Boston Ballet School student ID with pertinent phone numbers at all times.

The residential student meal plan consists of breakfast, bagged lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. Brunch and dinner are provided on Saturday and Sunday. The dining hall is a short walk from the residence. A sample lunch may include, (but will not be limited to), a salad or sandwich to-go, a piece of fruit, a whole wheat bagel, and a bottled drink.

Weekend Activities
In addition to residence hall activities, Boston Ballet School plans optional weekend outings for all residential and commuter students. Members of the residential staff chaperone activities and transportation is provided. Activities are optional, and spaces are limited and are filled on a first come first served basis. Students must pre-purchase tickets to these activities. Students have the opportunity to go on any or all of the exciting weekend activities.
