When can my child perform in Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker?

All currently enrolled Boston Ballet School students in the Pre-Professional program are eligible to audition for The Nutcracker. Trainee students are exempted from the audition process as they are required to participate in The Nutcracker as part of their core curriculum. Informational materials related to The Nutcracker will be mailed to eligible students in late August/ early September.

How do I report an absence and why is it important to notify you if my child will not be in class?

Pre-Professional Program students must report all absences to the Pre-Professional Program Manager. Absences can be reported by phone at 617.456.6363. Reported absences due to Illness, Injury, Inclement Weather, Family Emergency and Boston Ballet Rehearsal and/or Performances are considered “excused;” only “excused” absences are eligible to be made up. Regardless of the reason, notifying the school of a child’s absence is important for your child’s attendance record as well as in emergency situations. If your child is injured and will miss a prolonged series of classes, we ask that you provide us with an applicable doctor’s note

How do we know if the school is closed due to inclement weather?

When the weather turns bad, we assess canceling classes three times during the day: 7am, 12pm, and 3pm. Subsequently, we update our Class Cancellation Line. Please call this hotline at 617.695.6950, ext. 567 to learn which classes are being held and which classes are not.

What is the Classes Plus Program?

The Classes Plus Program allows Pre-Professional Program students to attend extra ballet technique classes in a lower level, free of charge. Students must retrieve a slip from their Studio Administrator in order to enter the extra class.

We celebrate diversity while fostering a team spirit.
