Biography

Marissa Krolewski, a native of Niagara Falls, New York, began her journey in dance at age three at Mary Ann’s School of Dance (MASD), under the direction of Mary Ann (Martin) Longval. During her time there, she studied ballet and jazz, explored choreography, received numerous achievement awards and was a recipient of the Kathleen M. Knight scholarship, the highest honor at MASD.

Krolewski holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dance from SUNY at Buffalo, where she intensely studied ballet, jazz and modern under the instruction of Tressa Gorman Crehan, Jeanne Palmer-Fornarola, Shelley Hain, Thomas Ralabate and William E. Thomas. While there, she also participated in several master classes taught by Bill T. Jones (Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company), Carla Maxwell (Limón Dance Company) and Denise Vale (Martha Graham Dance Company). She choreographed a number of movement studies as well as group pieces for student showcases.

In 2004, Krolewski relocated to Boston and joined the Administrative team at Boston Ballet School (BBS). She performed as an original member of URBANITY DANCE (2005-2011), a Boston-based contemporary dance company who performed in venues across Massachusetts including Jacob’s Pillow, Earthdance, Springstep and Boston’s own The Strand Theatre.

Wanting to connect further with her dance training, she additionally became a faculty member in the BBS’s Children’s Program in 2006, and provided Creative Dance and Pre-Ballet classes through a partnership with the Hill House community (2006-2012). Upon starting a family in 2013, Krolewski has focused her efforts on sharing her passion for movement with Children’s Program students at BBS, and continues to be inspired by the joy dancing can bring.
