Mimi Ferrell

Biography

Mimi Ferrell trained with Marie Bollinger Vogt in Ohio, with summer study at The School of American Ballet. She danced principal, soloist, and corps roles with companies in Ohio, California, and Boston. She earned her teaching diploma with the Royal Academy of Dance in London, passing her exams in history, anatomy, and the teaching of ballet. She has successfully entered hundreds of students in exams from pre-primary through advanced. Several of her students have qualified for and competed in international competitions in London as a result of high marks in intermediate and advanced exams, with one student earning first place. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Ferrell had her own ballet school in Boxford, MA for 23 years during which time she trained 15 students who entered the profession. She was chair of the ballet department at Phillips Academy, Andover, and was on the ballet faculty of St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H. After moving to Wellesley in 2001, Ferrell was principal of the Jose Mateo Ballet School in Cambridge. She joined the Boston Ballet School in 2005 where she taught in the former Pre-Professional Division and the Classical Ballet Program. While at the University of Michigan, she both choreographed and performed.
