General Information

What is the Virtual subscription?
This subscription grants you access to Boston Ballet’s virtual season, featuring four programs from October 2021–June 2022. Enjoy carefully curated works, emerging choreographic voices, and—for the first-time ever—full length programs filmed at the Citizens Bank Opera House.

When will I receive my viewing links and how do I watch?
Shortly after you buy your Virtual subscription, you will receive an email from Boston Ballet with the subject line “Boston Ballet – Virtual Subscription Links.” This email contains your unique viewing links for all of the upcoming virtual programs.

When you click on a show link, you will be automatically logged in to Overture+, Boston Ballet’s secure streaming platform. Click the purple “Watch Now” button and enjoy the show!

Is there a time limit for viewing the virtual performances?
Each Virtual production will be available to watch at your leisure for at least ten days from the premiere date. We will send reminder emails to all subscribers before each production premieres.

I co-subscribe with someone who doesn’t live with me. How can they access the virtual programs?
Please make sure that you have purchased the applicable number of Virtual subscriptions for you and any co-subscribers who don’t live with you. You will be able to share the viewing links with your co-subscriber.

Can I share Virtual viewing links and passwords with people who do not subscribe?
No. These links are exclusive to your order, so please don’t share them with non-subscribers and those outside of your order. While we wish we could share these exciting programs with everyone, artistic permission from multiple artist rights holders and unions is granted exclusively for subscribers. Please help us keep our promises to our artists and musicians.

Can I gift a subscription to someone else?
Yes! You can call the Box Office at 617.695.6955 or send an email to tickets@bostonballet.org with the name and email of your gift recipient including payment and we’ll set up the subscription for them.

I can’t find the email with my e-ticket. What should I do?
Try searching your inbox for an email from tickets@bostonballet.org. You might also check your spam folder. If those steps don’t work, please contact the Box Office at tickets@bostonballet.org or 617.695.6955 and we will resend your e-ticket.

I’m a student. Is there a discount on the season this year?
Unfortunately not. We invite you to subscribe to our virtual season for just $35 per performance.

  2. Click the performance link from your e-mail confirmation. (Hint: The email subject line is “Boston Ballet – Virtual Subscription Links.”)

  4. Your stream will begin playing on your smart TV!

Looking for other ways to stream to your smart TV? We recommend this resource from CNET for more information and encourage you to test any technology prior to watching a virtual program.

Do you have any tips for optimizing my viewing experience?
Here are some steps you can take before you watch to make your viewing experience as smooth as possible:

  1. Update your browser. Make sure you are using the latest version of your web browser for peak performance. The latest version of each browser can be found here.
  2. Get up to speed. The video player requires network speeds of 500 kbps or higher to stream videos. Take a moment to check your network speed and reach out to your Internet Provider with any issues.
  3. Check your tech. Once you receive your e-tickets, follow the instructions to make sure that everything works properly and you feel comfortable launching the video player. You can even practice pausing, rewinding, or switching to full-screen view with one of the test videos on the page.

Can I pause, rewind, or re-watch?
Yes! Pause, rewind, and re-watch during a program’s 10-day window. Please note: Overture+ limits subscribers to five views per production. If you surpass this number, please contact the Box Office at tickets@bostonballet.org or 617.695.6955 and we’ll gladly reset it for you.

How do I switch to full-screen view?
Open the video player and scroll down until you see the video play bar. Then click the “full-screen” button Screen-Shot-2021-10-28-at-12-19-06-PM.png in the bottom right corner of the video player.

What if I have more questions?
For questions or technical assistance, please contact the Box Office at tickets@bostonballet.org or 617.695.6955. We highly recommend you test your technology prior to watching a virtual performance so that your virtual “night at the ballet” can be as seamless as possible. We appreciate your patience and look forward to sharing this exciting virtual season with you.
