Boston Ballet’s season kicks off with Fall Experience, a program full of dazzling dancing and dynamic music. Discover the ins and outs of the four incredible ballets on this exceptional program that has something for everyone, whether you are brand new to ballet or a lifelong fan.

  1. The Fall Experience program returns with an all-new lineup of works.This season’s Fall Experience features four ballets that showcase the incredible talent and versatility of the Company. In one program, audiences will see Lia Cirio’s world premiere, Sabrina Matthews’ Ein von Viel, Jorma Elo’s Plan to B, and Crystal Pite’s The Seasons’ Canon.
  2. Boston Ballet Principal Dancer Lia Cirio is not only debuting her second mainstage ballet—she’s celebrating 20 years as a dancer with the Company.Rising from Boston Ballet II to principal dancer, Cirio’s success as a dancer and choreographer will be honored this season. Her ballet features a beautiful score by Lera Auerbach and showcases neo-classical pointe work, her own personal style, and her ability to highlight the unique talent of her fellow dancers.
  3. Crytal Pite’s The Seasons’ Canon is an extraordinary tour de force from one of today’s most innovative choreographers.The Seasons’ Canon “takes you to the moon,” as Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen describes. A highlight of the entire season, the work features an impressive 54 dancers and elaborate reflected light effects. Created for Paris Opera Ballet, The Seasons’ Canon is the first Pite piece to enter the repertoire of Boston Ballet.
  4. Sabrina Matthews’ Ein von Viel is an intricate and soulful collaboration between two dancers and a pianist.Ein von Viel was originally commissioned by Mikko Nissinen for Alberta Ballet in 2001. Elevated by J.S. Bach’s celebrated Goldberg Variations, the work explores our human connection. The casting subverts traditional gender roles—the duet will be performed by two males or two females, depending on the performance.
  5. It’s the 20th anniversary of Jorma Elo’s Plan to B.Mikko Nissinen describes Resident Choreographer Jorma Elo’s Plan to B like “espresso.” A thrilling, fiery, and unpredictable ballet, audiences will be captured by the velocity. Elo’s inspiration was the nervous energy of life’s unpredictability. Created for Boston Ballet 20 years ago, Plan to B makes its exciting return to Boston after over a decade.
