Biography
Ara Shin trained at Korea National Ballet Academy, Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School. Shin is the recipient of 7th prize and the prestigious Contemporary Dance Award at the 2026 Prix de Lausanne. She also was awarded the gold medal in the Junior division at the 2023 Korea International Ballet Competition, 1st Place at Tanzolymp Berlin 2023, a Silver Medal at Tanzolymp Asia 2022, and 1st Place at Youth America Grand Prix Korea 2019.
Her repertoire includes Arthur Saint-Léon’s Coppélia (Swanilda Solo), Joseph Mazilier and Pierre Lacotte’s Marco Spada (Solo), Marius Petipa’s Don Quixote (Kitri Solo), Harlequinade (Solo), Le Corsaire (Second Odalisque Solo), Paquita (Jeté), Paquita (Pas de Trois Variation 1), Paquita (Waltz), Satanella (Solo), Swan Lake (Pas de Trois), The Awakening of Flora (Flora Solo), and Alexander Mockrish’s Extinction.
Shin joined Boston Ballet as an artist of the Company in 2026.
