Boston Ballet tickets now arrive by text—ready to scan, save, and share.

Your Phone Is Your Ticket

Boston Ballet tickets now arrive by text—ready to scan, save, and share.

How It Works

  1. Buy your tickets. Purchase single tickets ONLINE, by phone, or at the Box Office—just be sure your ACCOUNT includes your mobile number.
  2. Get a text. On Monday of the performance week, between 8 am-6 pm, you will receive a text with your secure ticket link. If you purchase tickets during the week of the performance date (after Monday) your tickets will be delivered immediately.
  3. Tap, save, share. Open your tickets instantly. You can add them to Apple or Google Wallet and send guests their own tickets if you’re arriving separately.
  4. Scan at the door. Show your phone, hear the beep, enjoy the performance.

Why We’re Making the Change

We want the moments before the curtain rises to be as graceful as what happens after it. Mobile tickets mean:

  1. No more hunting. Your ticket arrives exactly when you need it—no searching your inbox or finding a printer
  2. Freedom for your group. You have the option to text everyone their own tickets, so no more waiting for that one friend who is running late.
  3. A helpful companion. Your ticket links to directions, performance details, and FAQs for the evening.
  4. A lighter footprint. Fewer printed tickets means less paper… a small step that adds up across a season.

Before Your First Mobile Ticket

Make sure we have your mobile number. Tickets go to the most recently added mobile number on your account.

Prefer Another Way?

Mobile tickets are the simplest option for most patrons, but they are not the only one. If you don’t have a mobile phone or simply prefer paper, you may have your tickets mailed to you. If you purchase tickets less than 10 days prior to a performance, you may choose to have your tickets held at Will Call.
Subscribers: nothing changes for you—your tickets arrive by mail, just as they always have.

Mobile Ticketing FAQs

How will I receive my tickets?
Boston Ballet now delivers tickets for single-ticket purchases straight to your mobile phone. On Monday the week of your performance, you’ll receive a text message with a secure link to your digital tickets. Tap the link and your tickets are ready to scan at the door—no app to download, no account login, and nothing to print.

Which phone number will my tickets be sent to?
Tickets are sent to the most recently added mobile number on your Boston Ballet ACCOUNT. If the most recent number on file isn’t a mobile number, our system will automatically try the next number on your account. To make sure your tickets reach you, please take a moment to VERIFY OR UPDATE THE MOBILE NUMBER ON YOUR ACCOUNT before your performance.

What if I don’t have a mobile number on my account?
No problem—you have options:

  1. Add one: Log in to your ACCOUNT and add your mobile number, or call the Box Office at 617.695.6955 and we’ll update it for you.
  2. No mobile phone? You can still attend exactly as you always have. You may choose to have your tickets mailed to you for $2 per order, time permitting. If you purchase tickets less than 10 days prior to a performance, you may choose to have your tickets held at Will Call.

What if I haven’t received my ticket text?
First, double-check the mobile number on your account. Ticket texts are sent the Monday before your performance, so if your performance is further out, your tickets are on the way. If it’s the day of your performance and you still haven’t received a text:

  1. Check that the mobile number on your account is current and entered correctly.
  2. Check whether your phone blocks messages from unknown senders.
  3. Contact the Box Office at 617.695.6955. We can resend your ticket link by email or arrange pickup at the Box Office. The Box Office at the Citizens Opera House can always help when you arrive.

How do I share tickets with others in my party?
If your party is arriving separately, everyone can carry their own ticket. Open your digital ticket, tap Share, and follow the instructions to send a ticket by text. Once shared, that ticket moves from your screen to theirs—they can use it to enter on their own, and you keep the rest of your party’s tickets. We recommend sharing tickets before you leave for the theater.

Can I save my tickets to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
Yes, and we recommend it. When you open your digital ticket, tap the Add to Apple Wallet or Save to Google Wallet button. Your ticket will be waiting in your wallet when you arrive, even if you’re somewhere with a weak signal.

  • Can a ticket that has been added to digital wallet be shared from the wallet or can it only come from the Mobile ticketing web browser? Sharing can only happen from the browser app.
  • Does sharing invalidate a ticket already added to digital wallet? Yes, sharing will invalidate existing wallet tickets for those seats.
  • Does the original owner receive notification of transfer attempt/success? No. No alert is sent.

Do I need to download an app or create a login?
No. Your digital ticket opens in your phone’s web browser from the link in your text message. There is nothing to download, install, or sign up for.

Can I still have my tickets mailed to me?
Yes. If you prefer a printed ticket, select “Mail” during checkout. There is a $2 per order charge.

I’m a subscriber. Does this change anything for me?
Mobile ticket delivery currently applies to single ticket purchases only. Subscribers will continue to receive their subscription tickets in the welcome packet in the mail. However, if you exchange subscription tickets or purchase additional tickets, you may choose to have those tickets sent to your mobile device.

What does my digital ticket include besides entry?
Your digital ticket is also your performance companion: it includes directions to the Citizens Opera House, performance information, and answers to common questions.

Will Boston Ballet text me about other things?
We may text you about urgent updates directly related to your visit—such as a schedule change or emergency cancellation—but nothing else. Message and data rates may apply.

What if my phone dies or I can’t open the link at the theater?
Upon arrival, please visit the Box Office with your name and order number (if you know it). Our staff can look up your order and print your tickets for you.
