Amanda Eyles

Biography

Amanda has worked as a Ballet Mistress, Rehearsal Director, Stager and Benesh notator for more than 30 years in both the UK and internationally, and has been fortunate to work with a wide range of choreographers and directors on both new creations and restaging. In the U.K. she has worked with the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Rambert and Richard Alston Dance Company and currently works with the Royal Ballet as assistant to the choreographer Wayne McGregor; restaging existing work and assisting on the creation of new work. She has staged work with Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Miami City Ballet, New York Theatre Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet in the U.S., and also Shanghai Ballet, Croatian National Ballet, Polish National Ballet and Lithuanian National Ballet. Amanda trained in Benesh Movement Notation at the beginning of her career and has always used BMN in her work as Ballet Mistress and Stager; she has held the position of Assistant Director of the Benesh Institute in London and has also taught on the Professional Diploma in Benesh Movement Notation. In addition she teaches both contemporary and classical class, and is a Level 1 Gyrotonic instructor.
