Biography
Catherine G. Couey began her dance training in Clarksville, TN, at age 4, with a focus on classical ballet. While attending the University of the South, she was heavily involved in the student-run dance organization Perpetual Motion. After graduating with a psychology major and minors in theatre arts and Latin, Couey moved to Nashville, TN, and continued pursuing her love of dance through the Nashville Ballet Community Division.
While in Nashville, Couey spent five years teaching for Rejoice School of Ballet, an outreach dance ministry dedicated to providing quality dance education to students from low-income families. There, Couey used her passion for the special needs community to establish and teach a class designed for students with autism.
Couey relocated to Boston in 2017, after graduating with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy through Lesley University. She currently works as an outreach therapist, bringing the healing power of the arts, counseling, and advocacy to underserved populations.
