Biography
Kristin Beckwith has been a member of the Boston Ballet School faculty since 1985.
Before coming to Boston Ballet she taught at Tufts University (1976-1986) and several private studios in the Boston area, finding some time for choreographing and performing as well.
Beckwith has a bachelor’s degree in dance from the Boston Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, a master’s degree in dance history from Goddard College in Vermont and certification in Labanotation from the Dance Notation Bureau in New York City.
As a dance historian she has contributed four articles to International Dictionary of Ballet: Nikolai Legat, Agrippina Vaganova, Flore et Zéphire, and The Little Humpbacked Horse.
Beckwith has three adult children and three grandchildren. She is married to composer Thomas Oboe Lee, with whom she has collaborated.
