Pre-Professional Program

Our highly competitive Pre-Professional Program trains select students for a professional career with Boston Ballet and beyond.

Program Overview

Guided by the vision of Boston Ballet’s Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen, and under the leadership of School Director Margaret Tracey, Head of Men’s Program Peter Stark, and an internationally renowned faculty, our program provides an intensive ballet training experience for students in pursuit of a professional career. Merit-based scholarships are offered to top talent.

Designed to reflect Boston Ballet’s repertoire, our carefully crafted curriculum trains students for the demands of today’s dance world.

Acceptance is by audition only. Students from around the world compete, along with upper level BBS students, for the few open spots each year.

Student Resources

Boston Ballet School offers a wealth of resources to support Pre-Professional students. A supervised Residential Program is located nearby and tools to support students’ academic studies, health, and wellness are provided.

Summer Dance Program

Boston Ballet School offers Summer Dance Program (SDP), a five-week, summer intensive training program, which can be a first step to year-round training in the Pre-Professional Program.

We celebrate diversity while fostering a team spirit.
