Gearóid Solan

Biography

Gearóid Solan began his ballet training at Irish National Youth Ballet. At age 15, he joined the Royal Ballet School in London, where he was awarded the Ballet Association Award for outstanding overseas students. After graduating, he joined Ballett Zürich.

His repertoire includes Sir Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella and Sylvia, Patrice Bart’s Giselle, George Balanchine’s Chaconne, Mozartiana, and Symphony in Three Movements, Lia Cirio’s After, Jorma Elo’s Bach Cello Suites, Carmen, Nissinen Images, Plan to B, and Ruth’s Dance, Stephen Galloway’s DEVIL’s/eye, Marco Goecke’s Nijinsky, William Forsythe’s Approximate Sonata, Artifact Suite, Blake Works I, Blake Works III, and The Second Detail, Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort and Sechs Tänze, Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Roméo et Juliette, Sabrina Matthews’ Ein von Viel, Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, Mikko Nissinen’s Raymonda, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker, Ken Ossola’s The Space Between, Rudolf Nureyev’s Don Quixote, Helen Pickett’s To Be One, Crystal Pite’s Emergence, and The Seasons’ Canon, Claudia Schreier’s Slipstream, and My’Kal Stromile’s Form and Gesture.

Solan joined Boston Ballet in 2020 as an artist of the Company. He was promoted to second soloist in 2025.
