Biography

Clay Murray began his early dance training at South Mississippi Ballet Theatre. At age 16 he moved to Houston, Texas to train under Claudio Munoz and Andrew Murphy at Houston Ballet Academy where he expanded his classical and contemporary movement. At 18, he joined the Professional Division Program at Pacific Northwest Ballet. Murray has since danced with Boston Ballet II, Los Angeles Ballet, and Ballet Rhode Island.

His repertoire includes ballets by George Balanchine, Azure Barton, William Forsythe, José Limón, Trey McIntyre, Helen Pickett, and Yury Yanowsky. He has choreographed six world premieres for Ballet RI’s company and school.

Murray performs The Sleeping Beauty with Boston Ballet as an artist of the Company in 2026.
