Biography

Corina Gill secured her first professional contract with San Diego Ballet at 17. She was on scholarship at the University of California, Irvine, where she was one of five standout students invited to an exchange program at the Conservatoire de Paris. She trained in the Cecchetti method and danced with Eliot Feld’s Ballet Tech, Ballet Pacifica, and State Street Ballet.

In 2006, she played an integral role in the launching of Los Angeles Ballet, where she received specialized coaching from co-directors Colleen Neary and Thordal Christensen. She was featured in many celebrated works by August Bournonville and George Balanchine. Featured in Pointe Magazine‘s “On the Rise”, she quickly became known as the “media’s darling” receiving praise from dance critics of the Los Angeles Times.

In 2009, Gill joined Boston Ballet, gaining recognition and being featured in Pointe Magazine‘s “Dancer Spotlight” and later advancing to second soloist. She collaborated closely with Jorma Elo over many years, performing principal roles in several of his ballets, including the premiere of Sharper Side of Dark, which was created for her alongside five principal dancers. Gill had the privilege of working directly with William Forsythe and participated in the creation and premiere of Playlist (EP). She toured internationally with the Company, performing at several prestigious venues and dance festivals. Her repertoire includes works by a vast array of renowned choreographers such as Jiří Kylián and Christopher Wheeldon. Among her favorite principal roles are “Kate” from William Forsythe’s The Second Detail and Norbert Vesak’s Belong. After a 20-year professional career, Gill retired, concluding her journey in Spring from Leonid Yakobson’s Rodin.

Gill now teaches for Boston Ballet School’s Classical Ballet training levels and The Professional Division at Walnut Hill School for the Arts. She also directs various rehearsals for the school, including children’s roles in Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker. Gill has led company and master classes, directed rehearsals, adjudicated exams, and coached for YAGP at several institutions across the United States and internationally. Mat-certified by the Pilates Method Alliance, she holds a master’s certificate in nonprofit management and a BA in Dance.
