Biography
Evelina Godunova studied at the Royal Ballet School, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, and the Riga Ballet Academy. She began her artistic career at Latvian National Opera at age 11. She has performed as a soloist with Universal Ballet in Seoul Korea, Staatsballett Berlin, and the Latvian National Opera.
Godunova has performed many principal roles, including Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Aurora in Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle in Patrice Bart’s Giselle, Kitri in Victor Ullate’s Don Quixote, and Juliet in both Kenneth MacMillan and John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet.
In 2015 she won the Latvian Theatre award for Best Dancer for her role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and in 2018 she was nominated as Best Dancer of the Year by DanceEurope magazine.
Godunova joined Boston Ballet as a soloist in 2024.
