Biography
Graham Johns began his dance studies at age 12, with Elaine Kudo, Diane Orio, and Buddy Balou. He matriculated at Phillips Academy in 2010, where he continued his dance training in tandem with his academics. In 2014, Johns was invited by Margaret Tracey to join the trainee program at Boston Ballet School, on full scholarship. Johns was featured in BBS Next Generation performances in Peter Martins’ Les Gentilhommes and Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty (Désiré).
He has danced principal and featured roles in masterworks by Sir Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, John Cranko, William Forsythe, Akram Khan, Marius Petipa, and Jerome Robbins.
Johns is a proud graduate of Phillips Academy, the recipient of the 2014 Phillips Academy Dance Prize, a National YoungArts Foundation Winner, a graduate of Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in finance, and a third generation classical Pilates instructor. He is a steadfast advocate for his colleagues, whom he represents as a Governor in the American Guild of Musical Artists.
Johns was invited by Mikko Nissinen to join Boston Ballet II in 2016 and was promoted to artist of the company in 2017.
