Foundations of Ballet are registered 18-week courses designed for beginner students to learn the fundamentals of ballet in a supportive environment. Weekly classes have a specific focus allowing for an incremental and progressive training experience. Upon completion of both foundation levels, students will be prepared to join Level 1 (Beginner) open classes. Each semester of programming, four different workshops will be offered at both locations.
Foundations of Ballet (Beginner 1 | 0 years of experience)
In this course students will learn the essential and fundamental elements of ballet technique. This includes basic ballet positioning, posture, vocabulary, and mechanics. Students will focus on basic arm and leg positioning as well as developing correct body placement. Students will also learn the structure of a traditional ballet technique class, progressing from barre work to center work throughout the 18 weeks of this course. By the end of the course students will be prepared to move into Foundations of Ballet 2. This class is intended for the absolute beginner. No experience is required!
