Deep Dive | Rubies

Rubies, the fiery heart of George Balanchine’s JEWELS, bursts with the bold, jazzy rhythms of 20th century American ballet.

Set to Igor Stravinsky’s exhilarating score, Rubies’ sharp lines and angular movements highlight the speed, flexibility, and athleticism that define Balanchine’s signature neoclassical style. Hear from Principal Dancer Chisako Oga and Repetiteur for The George Balanchine Trust Sandra Jennings Eshima as they reflect on the freedom of expression and sense of fun this vibrant ballet inspires.
