Students have a time commitment of three to five classes per week, moving at a pace which facilitates age-appropriate discipline and the understanding of technique and safety. These critical levels lay the foundation of classical ballet vocabulary and prepare students for the continued progression through our Classical Ballet Training with confidence.
By the completion of Classical Ballet 1, students have developed their posture and movement articulation. Beginning mainly at the barre, the curriculum gradually introduces students to more center work, integrating critical elements of ballet like allegro and traveling steps.
Focusing on development of ports de bras and clarifying the quality of movement and coordination, students gain the technical strength and ability necessary for pointe work, which is introduced at the discretion of the faculty. The safety of our students is our greatest priority, particularly when considering going en pointe. Students must be physically strong and mature enough to manage the demands.
Pointe is introduced at faculty discretion in Classical Ballet 2. In addition, character dance becomes a part of the core curriculum at Classical Ballet 2. This dynamic and dramatic movement style enhances musicality, imagination, and expression.
