One class per week, 45 minutes
In Preparatory 5, students build on foundational ballet steps while refining spatial awareness, particularly laterality (right vs. left). As they adapt to dancing in front of a mirror and within a structured classroom setting, musicality plays a key role in their development. All music is thoughtfully selected to enhance the curriculum, fostering an understanding of the relationship between music and movement. Using both live and recorded piano accompaniment, students learn to follow the beat, differentiate rhythm from beat, and recognize musical phrasing. Music also supports vocabulary growth, spatial awareness, and the exploration of levels, force, and weight in movement.
