Take Flight
Imagination soars in this energetic trio of works by George Balanchine, Jiři Kylián, and Alexander Ekman.
Balanchine’s charming and effervescent Donizetti Variations pairs sprightly footwork and partnering with excerpts of Donizetti’s final opera Don Sebastian.
Sensual and entrancing, Kylián’s Wings of Wax is an allegorical journey danced beneath the branches of an inverted tree to a hauntingly beautiful score of selections by musical giants Philip Glass, Heinrich von Biber, John Cage, and Johann Sebastian Bach.
Ekman’s sensation Cacti returns with a playful dialogue on contemporary dance. Dancers create percussive rhythms with their bodies, accompanied by a live string quartet, oversized sets, and quirky props.
