THE CATHRYN KEITH SOCIETY
The Cathryn Keith Society recognizes donors who have arranged for legacy gifts to Boston Ballet. The Society was created and named upon receipt of Boston Ballet’s very first planned gift from the incredible Cathryn Keith. Cathryn was an extraordinary supporter of Boston Ballet who possessed grace, spirit, humor, and compassion, and showed great devotion to the art, artists, and students of Boston Ballet. Cathryn famously created the Ballet’s first retail operation, stitched costumes in the shop and backstage, and managed administrative tasks and projects at the Company’s offices. In memory of Cathryn, and in honor of her generosity, this society was created to steward and thank others like her who dedicate resources to sustain artmaking and education at Boston Ballet.
Gifts that provide membership in The Cathryn Keith Society include bequests and other types of planned giving vehicles. This important support is critical for world-class performances and touring, scholarships and education, technology improvements and innovation, and community outreach programs that improve access and exposure to the art form. Cathryn believed that ballet was for everyone, and legacy giving ensures that inclusivity. The following guide describes a variety of planned giving vehicles. We encourage supporters of Boston Ballet to work with Development staff, and with their financial and legal advisors, to appropriately structure their planned gifts.
