Biography
Alexa Torres received her early dance training in her hometown of Santiago, Dominican Republic. In 2013, she continued her studies at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C. At age 18, Alexa joined The Washington Ballet as a trainee, under Artistic Director Julie Kent. She was promoted to the Studio Company and the Company, where she danced for five years. She also danced with Paris Opera Ballet as a short-term dancer in January 2023.
Her repertoire includes Sir Frederick Ashton’s Birthday Offering, George Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, Ballet Imperial, Serenade, Tchaikovsky Pas De Deux, Theme and Variations, and Who Cares?, Silas Farley’s Dowland Dances and Werner Sonata, Michel Fokine’s Les Sylphides, Dana Genshaft’s Shadow Lands, Julie Kent’s Flames of Paris, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake, Jessica Lang’s Beethoven Serenade, and Septime Webre’s The Nutcracker.
Torres joined Boston Ballet as an artist of the Company in 2023.
