Austen McDonald began his dance training in Australia. He was a finalist at the 2020 Prix de Lausanne. McDonald continued his studies in Switzerland at Tanz Akademie Zürich under the guidance of Oliver Matz and Steffi Scherzer. McDonald was then invited to join The Royal Ballet School Graduate Year program. He performed with The Royal Ballet in Sir Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella. He performed Jiří Kylián’s Sechs Tänze and Christopher Wheeldon’s Within the Golden Hour with the Royal Ballet School.
