Biography

Chenxin Liu trained at the Beijing Dance Academy before joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) School’s Aspirant Program. She joined the RWB Company as an Apprentice in 2012 and was promoted to the principal dancer in 2021.

Her repertoire includes Sir Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella (The Fairy Summer), George Balanchine’s Serenade and Allegro Brillante, Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story, Jorma Elo’s Bach Cello Suites and Carmen, William Forsythe’s Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Mark Godden’s Dracula and Miroirs, Greg Horsman’s La Bayadère, James Kudelka Vespers and The Four Seasons, Jorden Morris’ Peter Pan, Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy, Arabian Coffee) and Raymonda, Ken Ossola’s The Space Between, Twyla Tharp’s The Princess & The Goblin, Rudi van Dantzig’s Romeo & Juliet, Toer van Schayk’s Seventh Symphony, Mauricio Wainrot’s Carmina Burana, Septime Webre’s The Wizard of Oz, Peter Wright’s Giselle, Lila York’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Celts, Galina Yordanova’s Swan Lake, and Galina Yordanova and Nina Menon’s The Nutcracker. Additionally, in 2010, Liu performed the Don Quixote pas de deux at the Monaco Dance Forum. In 2011, Liu attended the Banff Summer Arts Festival and danced lead couple in Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante.

Chenxin Liu joined Boston Ballet as a second soloist in 2023.
