Johanna Sigurdardottir

Joined Boston Ballet in 2024

Johanna Sigurdardottir began her training with Lise la Cour and San Francisco Ballet School. She trained with the School of American Ballet (SAB) from 2016–2020, where she performed with New York City Ballet in Peter Martin’s The Sleeping Beauty, the New York Choreographic Institute, SAB Student Choreography workshops, Winter Showings and Winter Ball. In SAB’s annual workshop performances, Sigurdardottir performed in George Balanchine’s La Source, Western Symphony, Concerto Barocco, and Bourrée Fantasque, and Christopher Wheeldon’s Scènes de Ballet.

Sigurdardottir was a finalist at Youth America Grand Prix in New York City. She attended summer programs on scholarship at the School of American Ballet, Boston Ballet School, and Chautauqua Dance Program. She has choreographed pieces for School of American Ballet, Chautauqua Summer Dance Program, and Boston Ballet’s Graduate program. Sigurdardottir performed in numerous summer program performances including George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s The Nutcracker.

Sigurdardottir joined Boston Ballet’s Graduate program in 2020. She joined Boston Ballet II in 2021.

Since 2022, she has performed with various companies in corps de ballet, soloist, and principal roles in Europe and on tour in the United States.

Sigurdardottir’s repertoire with Boston Ballet includes BB@yourhome: The Gift, Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake (waltz and Pas de Cinq) and The Nutcracker, Paul Craig’s Gestalt, Rudolf Nureyev’s Don Quixote, and Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty.

She performs with Boston Ballet as an Artist of the Company in 2024.
