Pre-Ballet

Pre-Ballet Summer Sessions mark the introduction to proper ballet steps while working on spatial awareness, especially laterality (right versus left) in an age-appropriate setting. Alongside lively music, students become acquainted with the ballet classroom and dancing in front of a mirror. Music is an essential aspect of our curriculum as it transforms the classroom into a world where children can explore movement within an aesthetic framework. Music also has the power to evoke physical and emotional responses from children. The use of music is a great exercise to expand vocabulary, use of space and levels. In Pre-Ballet Summer Sessions students are asked to execute ballet steps in a more sophisticated manner, considering what body parts initiate movement and why they must move in a specific direction in ballet.

These sessions are perfect for beginners as well as students looking to dive into preparatory ballet technique in a fun, supportive environment!
